20th Ave Tradition - Fall
There are certain dahlias I grow because they are beautiful, and others I grow because they are incredibly useful. 20th Ave Tradition manages to be both.
At first glance, it reads as a clean creamy white miniature ball, but look a little closer and you may catch a soft whisper of lavender developing toward the center. That subtle variation gives the bloom just enough personality to keep it from feeling like a basic white flower, while still making it incredibly easy to design with.
The compact, rounded blooms are typically around 3 inches across and have that satisfying, tightly packed form that makes miniature ball dahlias such dependable workhorses in the cutting garden. In market bouquets, I use flowers like Tradition to bring a little breathing room between stronger colors. For florist orders, it is the kind of neutral that can move effortlessly between romantic, modern and garden-inspired palettes.
It is especially useful during wedding season. White dahlias are always in demand, but I love that Tradition has a little softness to it. Paired with blush, mauve and dusty rose, that faint lavender center feels intentional and romantic. Mixed with greenery and other whites, it becomes part of a timeless, classic palette without looking flat.
The plant has a strong upright growth habit and produces blooms on stems that are well suited for cutting, making it just as appealing to the gardener filling vases at home as it is to someone growing flowers for design work.
20th Ave Tradition is a beautiful choice for anyone who appreciates a dahlia that feels classic at first glance but reveals a little more character the longer you look at it.
