AC Golden Nickles - Fall

$11.00

There are days in the flower field when you need a little sunshine, and AC Golden Nickles delivers it beautifully. Its clear golden-yellow blooms have a light, airy quality that feels completely different from the densely packed ball and decorative dahlias growing nearby.

The stellar form is what really gives this variety its personality. The petals roll slightly and reach outward from the center, creating a star-like bloom with movement and dimension. From a distance it reads as bright and cheerful; up close, you really notice the architecture of the flower.

Golden yellow can sometimes be tricky for me in design work because I want warmth without having a bouquet feel too loud. Golden Nickles strikes a nice balance. I use it in market bouquets when I want to bring in that late-summer sunshine, especially alongside whites, soft peach, rust, burgundy, grasses and other seasonal textures. It has enough color to wake up a bouquet without necessarily becoming the only thing you see.

It is also a fun variety to offer our local florists because the stellar shape brings something different to the flower bucket. When so many dahlias are round and densely petaled, those narrow, pointed petals add movement and a completely different silhouette.

For weddings, I particularly like Golden Nickles in designs that embrace a natural late-summer or early-fall palette. A few stems mixed among softer garden flowers can introduce warmth without pushing the arrangement into bright primary yellow.

What I enjoy most about AC Golden Nickles is that it simply feels happy. It is cheerful in the garden, interesting in a bouquet, and different enough in form to earn its place among a large collection of dahlias.
