Alloway Candy - Fall

$12.00
Heirloom

Alloway Candy has a softness to it that feels almost nostalgic. The blooms open in beautiful shades of cotton-candy pink that fade toward a creamy ivory center, creating a gentle ombré effect that looks different depending on the light and stage of the bloom.

What really makes this variety special, though, is its stellar form. The petals reach outward with a light, slightly rolled shape that gives the flower movement instead of the dense, rounded look of a traditional decorative dahlia. In the field, those blooms seem to catch every breeze, and they bring that same sense of movement into a bouquet.

For our market bouquets, Alloway Candy is especially useful when I want something feminine and cheerful without becoming overly bright. It works beautifully with blush, cream, lavender, soft yellow and peach, and it can soften deeper raspberry or burgundy tones later in the season.

I also love having flowers like this available for local florists. The unusual shape adds texture among roses, lisianthus and more traditional dahlias, while the soft pink coloring makes it incredibly easy to incorporate into wedding work. In bridal bouquets and centerpieces, Alloway Candy brings a little whimsy while still feeling refined and romantic.

Another quality I appreciate is that it tends to bloom relatively early, which makes those first stems especially welcome after a long wait for dahlia season to begin.

For the gardener who loves soft color, graceful movement and a dahlia with a little vintage sweetness, Alloway Candy is a beautiful addition to the cutting garden.
