Bloomquist Globe - Fall

$17.00

Bloomquist Globe is one of those yellow dahlias that has far more going on than you notice at first glance. Young blooms can open with a warm orange cast, then brighten into a rich golden yellow as they mature, often developing a fine reddish edge along the petals. That changing color gives the flower wonderful depth and keeps it from ever feeling like a flat, straightforward yellow.

The formal decorative form gives each bloom a full, polished shape, with neatly layered petals creating plenty of structure. At approximately 4–6 inches across, Bloomquist Globe is also an ideal size for cutting—substantial enough to act as a focal flower, but still very manageable in mixed bouquets and event work.

In our market bouquets, I especially like Globe when I want to bring in yellow without making the bunch feel overly bright or primary. Its golden tone works beautifully with peach, cream, rust, burgundy, coral, and softer blush colors, and those subtle reddish edges help it blend surprisingly well into richer late-summer palettes.

For our local florists, this is the kind of yellow I find particularly useful. The strong stems and substantial bloom size make it easy to design with, while the color has enough warmth and variation to work in arrangements that need something more sophisticated than a simple bright yellow. Floret specifically notes its tall, strong stems, which is always a quality I appreciate in a variety destined for cutting.

For wedding work, Bloomquist Globe can move in several directions. Mixed with cream and peach, it feels sunny and romantic. Paired with rust, wine, and burgundy, it becomes richer and more seasonal. It is especially beautiful for late-summer weddings where I want warmth without committing completely to an autumn palette.

What I enjoy most about Bloomquist Globe is the way it changes as the bloom ages. That transition from warmer orange tones into glowing golden yellow, sometimes finished with those fine red edges, gives each stem a little more character than you expect from a yellow dahlia.

For the gardener who loves warm golden color, strong stems, and beautifully structured blooms that actually earn their space in the cutting garden, Bloomquist Globe is a wonderful variety to grow.
