Camano Roo - Fall
Camano Roo is the kind of dahlia that brings a strong, confident pink to the field. The blooms open in a rich dark pink that can lean toward raspberry, giving them enough depth to stand out without feeling overly bright or sugary.
Its formal decorative form gives each bloom a polished, layered appearance, with petals arranged in a beautifully structured shape. At approximately 4–6 inches across, Camano Roo is also a wonderfully practical size for cutting—substantial enough to act as a focal flower, but still easy to work into mixed bouquets and event designs.
In our market bouquets, I love using Camano Roo when I want pink with a little more weight behind it. It pairs beautifully with blush, cream, mauve, burgundy, plum, and softer pinks, and that deeper color can help ground an otherwise light bouquet.
For our local florists, this is a useful variety because the flower is both classic and versatile. The formal decorative shape brings structure to an arrangement, while the saturated pink gives designers plenty of options for romantic, berry-toned, or jewel-inspired palettes.
I also like Camano Roo for wedding work when a bride wants pink florals that feel a little richer and more grown-up. It can be softened with cream and blush for a romantic look or pushed moodier with wine, plum, and burgundy.
The plants grow around 4–5 feet tall, and this variety continues to prove itself on the exhibition bench as well. Camano Roo was named both Best Novice Single Bloom and Grand Champion Single Bloom at a 2025 ADS-reported show, a nice reminder that its appeal goes well beyond the cutting bucket.
For the gardener who loves rich pink color, beautifully structured blooms, and a dahlia that moves easily from the garden to the vase, Camano Roo is a wonderful variety to grow.
