Carpe Dahlia Summer Blush - Fall

$24.00

Carpe Dahlia Summer Blush is one of those dahlias that seems to change right along with the season. Early in summer, the blooms open in a warm honey-peach tone with soft buttery undertones. As the days begin to shorten, that coloring deepens and shifts toward rosy coral and blush, giving the same plant an entirely different personality by fall.

That seasonal color change is one of the reasons I find this variety so useful in a cutting field. At roughly 5 inches across, the formal decorative blooms are large enough to serve as focal flowers but still perfectly manageable for bouquet work. The layered petals give each bloom a polished shape while still keeping that soft, garden-grown quality I look for.

In our market bouquets, Summer Blush can move through several palettes over the course of the season. Early blooms blend beautifully with cream, butter yellow, peach, and soft apricot. Later in the year, those rosy-coral tones pair naturally with blush, dusty rose, rust, burgundy, and other richer late-summer colors.

For our local florists, this is exactly the kind of variety I want to grow more of. The stems are long and strong, the bloom position is excellent, and the plants are notably productive. Those practical qualities matter tremendously when a flower has to perform beyond simply looking beautiful in the field.

And for wedding work, Carpe Dahlia Summer Blush feels almost custom-made. It can move from soft romantic peach palettes into richer rose and coral designs without ever feeling out of place. In bridal bouquets, centerpieces, or larger installations, that changing color brings warmth and depth while still feeling refined.

What I appreciate most about Carpe Dahlia Summer Blush is that it gives me something different as the season progresses. The flower I am cutting in July may not look exactly like the one I harvest in September—and that evolving color makes it especially interesting to grow and design with.

For the gardener who loves warm blended color, excellent cut-flower stems, and a dahlia that changes beautifully with the season, Carpe Dahlia Summer Blush is a very special variety to grow.
