F.A.Q.

Just a few more details, things that aren't always so obvious.

Where are your dahlias grown?

All dahlia varieties are grown on our farm in southeast Wisconsin. We only employee natural, sustainable farming practices free from synthetic chemical pesticides, herbicides or fungicides. Check out our Farming Practices page for information on our cultivation practices.

What are the sanitation efforts used at At Home Organics?

All of our dahlias are thoroughly monitored for pest infestation, outward viral display and general health virulence. In the case of pests, AHO exercises integrated pest management with beneficial predators, hand removal and as necessary organic spray intervention. Any plants demonstrating questionable characteristics of contagious disease are aggressively removed and disposed of via burning or disposal in trash bags so as to eliminate the risk of infesting our on-farm compost supplies.

AHO also subscribes to a robust sanitation of all field tools and equipment including but not limited to tillers, shovels, rakes, pruners, snips, storage buckets and crates.

At Home Organics is not a U-Pick flower farm. Only the proprietors of AHO are in the dahlia fields and performing harvesting, pruning, digging and dividing of dahlia blooms and tubers.

Can I make changes to my order after it’s been placed?

We will do everything we can to combine orders prior to shipping when all customer information is matching (ie. Name, shipping address, etc). Unfortunately we cannot make updates after an order has been placed. These changes include removing or adding products and/or changing the delivery address. If a mistake has been made with your order information, it’s quickest to create a new order with the correct information and reprocess. Please contact us as soon as possible to address any concerns you may have.

Can I come back later to process my order?

Our eCommerce platform does not reserve available inventory selected in shopping carts. This means the only way to ensure you are able to get the tubers you really want, you must complete your purchase. Items are only removed from inventory upon completion of the online transaction. Please know we will do everything we can to combine orders and streamline shipping.

When will I receive my tubers?

We are just as excited to receive dahlia tubers orders as you are! The earlier the better is what I say!

New this year, we are offering a small release of tubers with fall shipping in addition to our traditional spring shipping. Please note, the customer is responsible for storage for ALL fall shipped tubers. Refunds will not be honored due to storage losses of fall shipped tubers.

All orders place by October 20, will be shipped by December 1.

Any order placed after October 21 will be shipped in April. This includes our full release, currently scheduled for February.

However, we are limited in our ability to ship very early in the spring given that we live in a very unpredictable Wisconsin climate. In late March/ early April, we will start to watch the weather with deliberate haste. It is our goal to ship all orders as soon as weather conditions allow. It is our goal to complete all shipping by the third week in April.

Word of warning: We have no control over the temps, We will not ship if we are experiencing freezing temperatures in Wisconsin in April. The last thing I want is a mushy, frozen tuber to be received by any customer of ours after tenderly caring for it during the long winter months.
