GG’s Alessandro - Fall

$14.00

GG’s Alessandro is the kind of dahlia that quietly earns its way onto the “grow again” list. The blooms open in a soft lavender to lilac-pink, with beautifully arranged petals that give each flower a refined, almost sculpted appearance.

Its miniature formal decorative form is especially appealing in the cutting field. At approximately 3½ inches across, the blooms are compact enough to tuck easily into bouquets, but still substantial enough to add color and structure. The petals are packed tightly through the center, giving the flower a polished look without making it feel stiff.

In our market bouquets, I love using Alessandro when I want to cool down a warmer palette or add something softer than a traditional purple. It pairs beautifully with blush, cream, dusty rose, mauve, burgundy, and even peach, making it surprisingly versatile for such a distinctive color.

For our local florists, this is exactly the kind of variety I appreciate growing in quantity. It is known for strong stems, a productive branching habit, and lots of blooms—qualities that matter just as much as color when you are cutting week after week. Triple Wren also notes that it makes excellent tubers, which is always a welcome bonus in a production field.

I also like GG’s Alessandro for wedding work when the palette calls for something romantic but a little more interesting than blush or white. The soft lavender color works beautifully in garden-inspired bridal bouquets and centerpieces, especially when paired with mauve, dusty rose, plum, or cream.

What I appreciate most about GG’s Alessandro is how complete the package feels. The color is beautiful, the stems are useful, the plants are productive, and the compact bloom size makes it easy to design with across markets, florist orders, and weddings.

For the gardener who loves soft lavender color, tidy formal blooms, and a dahlia that truly performs in the cutting garden, GG’s Alessandro is a wonderful variety to grow.
