Misfit Keliedoscope - Fall

$30.00

Misfit Kaleidoscope is one of those dahlias that never seems to look exactly the same twice. The blooms move through an extraordinary mix of bronze, peach, mauve, dusty rose, and warm pink, often with a deeper rosy reverse that gives the flower even more dimension.

That shifting color is exactly what makes it so exciting in the cutting field. Some blooms lean warmer and peachier, while others pull stronger mauve and rose tones. Put several stems together and you get a naturally layered palette without needing multiple varieties.

The blooms are formal decorative and generally fall in the 4–6 inch range, with many growers reporting flowers around 5–6 inches. The petals are neatly arranged and polished enough for exhibition, but the complex coloring keeps the flower from ever feeling too rigid or formal.

In our market bouquets, Misfit Kaleidoscope is the kind of flower that can pull an entire color story together. It works beautifully with blush, peach, cream, dusty rose, mauve, burgundy, rust, and warm neutral tones. Because it already carries several of those colors within the bloom, it creates a really natural transition between lighter and darker flowers.

For our local florists, this is exactly the type of dahlia that becomes a favorite quickly. The color is unusual, the bloom size is incredibly usable, and the plants are incredibly prolific producers with strong stems.

I especially love it for wedding work. Misfit Kaleidoscope can move seamlessly between soft romantic palettes and richer late-summer or fall combinations. In a blush-and-peach wedding it adds depth; beside burgundy and mauve it becomes warmer and moodier; and with cream and champagne tones it creates a beautifully antique feel.

This is also a variety with genuine exhibition credentials. Before its official release, Misfit Kaleidoscope performed well in ADS trial gardens, and in 2025 it went on to earn Best U.S. New Introduction at the American Dahlia Society National Show. That kind of recognition tells you there is more here than just an interesting color.

What I appreciate most about Misfit Kaleidoscope is how much range it brings to one plant. The blooms are refined, the color is complex, and the plant has the productivity to make it valuable in a working cutting field.

For the gardener who loves bronze, mauve, peach, and dusty rose tones in one beautifully structured flower, Misfit Kaleidoscope is an exceptional variety to grow.
